Improvement of wastewater treatment capacity using the microalga Scenedesmus sp. and membrane bioreactors

چکیده
Primary urban wastewater was processed using the microalga Scenedesmus sp. in an outdoor pilot-scale raceway reactor connected to ultrafiltration membrane. The goal separate cellular retention time from hydraulic time. This strategy led a 129.3% increase daily volume of treated per square meter, and 48.7% biomass productivity final value 22.2 ± 1.9 g·m−2·day−1. Nutrient removal highly influenced by permeate rate, allowing remove up 0.65 mg·m−2·day−1 phosphates. Over 99% ammonia removed when membrane used, although this partially due nitrate production nitrifying bacteria: higher rates relative abundance bacterial. amplification sequencing microalgae-bacteria samples detection ammonia-oxidizing bacteria nitrite-oxidizing bacteria, such as Bradyrhizobiaceae, Nitrospiraceae, Nitrosomonadaceae, Chromatiaceae. most abundant families detected were Rhodobacteraceae Comamonadaceae.

Treatment of Industrial Wastewater by Membrane Bioreactors
Membrane Bioreactors (MBRs) have attracted a significant attention of scientists and engineers in the past two decades. Improvement of membrane technologies coupled with experiences gained from application of membranes in different industrial processes have opened a gamut of opportunities in industrial wastewater treatment. The solidliquid separation that is conventionally carried out in gravit...
متن کاملAnaerobic Membrane Bioreactors (AnMBR) for Wastewater Treatment
This paper focuses on the recent research in the development of anaerobic membrane bioreactors in wastewater treatment. Anaerobic wastewater treatment technology is gaining increasing attention due to its capacity to convert wastewater BODs to usable biogas with relatively low energy consumption. The anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR), which is a combination of the anaerobic biological waste...
متن کاملEffect of Concentration of Cations on Activated Sludge Properties and Membrane Fouling in Membrane Bioreactors for Wastewater Treatment
This paper presents the results of an investigation on the effects of concentration of cations on activated sludge properties and membrane fouling in submerge membrane bioreactors. The working volume of the experimental setup was two liters. The cellulose acetate membrane was immersed in the bioreactor. The flocculability, settling properties and fouling propensity of activated sludge was measu...
متن کاملMaximizing biomass productivity and CO2 biofixation of microalga, Scenedesmus sp. by using sodium hydroxide.
A series of experiments were carried out with three native strains of microalgae to measure growth rates, biomass, and lipid productivities. Scenedesmus sp. IMMTCC-6 had better biomass growth rate and higher lipid production. The growth, lipid accumulation, and carbon dioxide (CO2) consumption rate of Scenedesmus sp. IMMTCC-6 were tested under different NaOH concentrations in modified BBM. The ...
متن کاملAnaerobic dynamic membrane bioreactors for high strength wastewater treatment
A laboratory scale external anaerobic dynamic membrane bioreactor (AnDMBR) treating high strength wastewater was operated to assess the effect of gas sparging velocity and organic loading rate on removal efficiency and dynamic membrane (DM) filtration characteristics. An increase in gas sparging velocity (GSV) results in a decrease in DM filtration resistance. DM or cake formation was identifie...
